Facial Acupuncture

Facial acupuncture, or ‘cosmetic acupuncture’ as it is sometimes called, is often described as a viable alternative to cosmetic surgery. An ‘acupuncture facelift’ is a non-invasive procedure designed to treat fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improving the overall appearance of the skin. Facial acupuncture has been used widely across China for many years, in order to prevent the onset of facial lines and wrinkles.

Studies published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture showed that of 300 test cases who received facial rejuvenation, 90% showed results after one course of facial acupuncture treatment. You can find out more about facial acupuncture treatments here.

Medical Acupuncture for pain (Dry Needling)

Medical acupuncture, also known as dry needling, is an effective acupuncture treatment for a multitude of painful conditions in the majority of areas within the body. It can be used as a standalone treatment, or in conjunction with other techniques. The needles are generally left in place for just 10-20 seconds. The procedure may follow a protocol which means applying needles away from the areas of pain.

Acupunncture for depression

Acupuncture is a suitable alternative method for combatting depression. Scientific evidence has shown that for some, acupuncture for depression can be as effective as more conventional treatments. It is both safe and suitable to be practised with other more conventional treatments. Often reducing their side effects and enhancing their benefits.

Acupuncture for depression works by stimulating the nervous system, releasing neurochemicals that can trigger the right biomechanical changes within the body. These changes will help to promote a better physical and emotional wellbeing.

Acupuncture is particularly beneficial for depression in pregnancy and post-stroke depression.

Acupuncture for fertility

Acupuncture for fertility is suitable for both women and men. Fertility for women can be aided by looking at regulating the body, and your menstrual cycle via acupuncture along with identifying any dietary changes that you may need to maximise your chances of conceiving. Fertility for men can be improved by using acupuncture to help increase the sperm count.

Studies have proven that acupuncture for fertility increases the success rate for women having in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) by almost 50%. Acupuncture for fertility also helps to reduce anxiety and hot flushes, which is helpful for those who are taking fertility drugs.

Acupuncture for asthma

The number of people affected by asthma in the UK is higher than anywhere else in the world. There is no known cure for asthma, therefore modern medications and devices have been developed to help sufferers manage the condition, such as asthma inhalers.

There have been clinical trials conducted to show that acupuncture does have a therapeutic effect on bronchial asthma. After acupuncture treatment for asthma, the patient’s chest should begin to feel less tight and breathing should become easier for them. A course of treatment can help reduce wheezing overall, leaving the patient feeling more energised.

Acupuncture for eczema

Eczema is the name for chronic skin conditions caused by inflammation. With skin issues, it can take longer for the body to heal because the cause is usually a combination of several factors such as allergies, stress, hormonal imbalances and heat.

Acupuncture for eczema works via nerve pain and itch modulation, though it offers positive effects all over the body. Decreasing stress and improving your sense of well-being. Acupuncture for eczema is also a very safe alternative treatment.

Acupuncture for migraines

Migraines are one of the primary headache disorders that people suffer from, with attacks lasting anywhere up to 72 hours and causing moderate to severe pain. Many migraine sufferers can be treated adequately by using drugs to reduce the frequency and intensity of these attacks.

Acupuncture can help to control the treatment of migraines by reducing inflammation, releasing endorphins and providing pain relief. Acupuncture is significantly better than no treatment for managing migraines. It is also at least as effective as prescribed drugs.

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture, is a more modern version of traditional Chinese acupuncture. It uses exactly the same basic technique, the only difference is that electro pulses are sent to the needle, and give a tingling sensation. It is often used for muscle strains, and pain. Electroacupuncture is especially useful for treating a sporting injury, along with some other chronic long term conditions.
